Season six of the Rubin’s ‘AWAKEN’ podcast will be released on October 27 with Kathleen Hanna as its new host. Hanna is a punk singer, writer and frontwoman of the bands Bikini Kill and Le Tigre.
This season of ‘AWAKEN’ explores the concept of wrath in Buddhist traditions as a powerful source for awakening and transformation rather than a destructive force. Each episode highlights a Buddhist or Hindu artwork from the Rubin depicting wrathful deities to illuminate their teachings on fierce compassion.
Hanna says that making the season led her to understand that anger can be a teacher and a guide, and that investigating it with curiosity can turn it into something proactive and helpful.
Kathleen Hanna is joined by activists, artists, writers, Buddhist teachers, and others to explore how wrath can be harnessed for protection and meaningful action. Season six guests include Ayad Akhtar, adrienne maree brown, Myisha Cherry, Valarie Kaur, Lama Rod Owens and Sharon Salzberg.
