The municipality of Xàtiva has begun repairs on a landslide along the road that climbs to Xàtiva Castle, according to a public notice issued by the local council. The work is taking place at the penultimate bend on the ascent route, where a section of the roadway had given way.
The intervention is aimed at stabilising the affected area and reducing the risk of further collapses. The council says a 12-tonne rock armour structure, or 'escullera', will be built to help secure the slope and improve safety for vehicles and visitors using the access road.
The project carries a budget of 2,565.20 euros, including VAT. No further timetable, contractor information or traffic-disruption details were included in the source notice.
The repair concerns the approach road to Xàtiva Castle, one of the city’s best-known historic sites, but the council statement focuses specifically on the infrastructure response rather than on the monument itself. The message was issued with an accompanying photograph and a brief description of the repair work underway.
The municipality’s notice presents the intervention as a targeted safety measure at a vulnerable point on the climb, with the stated aim of preventing future landslides at the same location.
