The exhibition 'Eva Frankfurther – Das Leben malen' will run from 23 October 2026 to 14 February 2027. More than 40 paintings and graphics depict immigrant and worker communities in London's East End. Together, the works offer a multifaceted view of migration, exile and social diversity in postwar Europe.
The opening is scheduled for 22 October 2026 at 7pm, with Sarah MacDougall serving as curator. The project is presented in cooperation with the Exilmuseum Berlin.
Among the exhibition page's featured images are Eva Frankfurther's 'Workers’ Tea Break,' 'Woman with Two Children,' and 'West Indian Waitresses,' each dating to around 1955.
Frankfurther was born in Berlin in 1930 into an educated, assimilated Jewish family and fled to London with her family in 1939 after the rise of Nazism in Germany.
She studied at St. Martin’s School of Art between 1946 and 1951. After her graduation, she moved to Whitechapel.
