On October 21, a recently acquired Christian Siriano gown will be on view in the Kelly Ellman Fashion Galleries in 'Colorwear: A Kaleidoscope of Fashion.'
The gown features a fuchsia-to-purple ombre effect, a structured collar, and a flowing skirt made of 16 ruffled tiers with a circumference of 56 feet.
The acquisition is a museum commission supported by the Arizona Costume Institute.
The Museum began collecting fashion in 1966, when the Arizona Costume Institute was founded to support the acquisition and preservation of garments and accessories of historical and aesthetic significance.
Today, the PhxArt fashion collection houses more than 9,000 objects spanning the 18th century through the present and is home to four special archives.
'Colorwear: A Kaleidoscope of Fashion' is organized by Phoenix Art Museum and curated by Helen Jean, the Jacquie Dorrance Curator of Fashion at Phoenix Art Museum, and Summer Rye, Fashion Curatorial Assistant & ACI Liaison.
