Richard Saltoun Gallery will present a booth at British Art Fair from 24–27 September 2026, at Stand 5, Gallery 1. The presentation will be the gallery’s first showing of Basil Alkazzi’s work following its recent representation of the Basil Alkazzi Estate.
The fair presentation brings together works by Basil Alkazzi (1938–2025), Dia al-Azzawi (b. 1939), Chila Kumari Burman (b. 1957), Felicity Powell (1961–2015), Anne Saïd (1914–1995) and Stella Snead (1910–2006), whose practices reflect the breadth of twentieth-century modernism. The selection expands traditional narratives of Modern British art to encompass diverse histories, perspectives and experiences, reflecting how the definition of ‘British’ has evolved.
The booth will feature a selection of key works spanning Alkazzi’s monumental six-decade career, including several of his celebrated gouache paintings. Born in Pune, India, and of Saudi Arabian–Kuwaiti heritage, Alkazzi was a British visual artist whose paintings explore cycles of life, landscape and spiritual transformation.
His practice moved between observed terrain and imagined, metaphysical realms, shaped by experimentation and cross-cultural exchange.
Additional works by Peter Collingwood (1922–2008), Magda Cordell (1921–2008), John McHale (1922–1978) and Bridget Riley (b. 1931) will also be on view.
