‘The Sound of Posters’ (Zvuk plakata) opened on 16 September 2026 at the MUO Gallery, Ilica 163, one of the partner venues of this year’s Zagreb Design Week, and remains open until 3 October 2026. The exhibition is curated by Koraljka Vlajo, head of the museum’s graphic design and product design collections.
The exhibition explores how sound can be “heard” in a visual medium, approaching posters through the idea that they are not silent images. It asks whether a poster can evoke music, noise, rhythm or even silence.
Works from the Museum of Arts and Crafts’ collection include posters by the prominent Croatian artists Ivan Picelj, Boris Bućan, Juraj Dobrović, Ratko Petrić and Krešimir Bauer. The museum also invited contemporary authors Ivana Borovnjak, Studio đkć and Studio Kuna zlatica to interpret the theme through new posters made using the screenprinting technique.
Rather than presenting posters exclusively as tools of communication or advertising, the exhibition frames them as visual experiences that can stimulate multiple senses and create space for personal interpretation.
The Museum of Arts and Crafts building has been closed to the public since 1 January 2022 because of renovation.
