Taylor Franklin Quinn will make her UK debut in the RHODES Project Room this December, presenting a new body of work that draws on the visual languages of Baroque painting and film noir.
Rich in atmosphere and cinematic tension, Quinn’s compositions use dramatic contrasts of light and shadow to evoke moments of intimacy, suspense and psychological intrigue.
Working primarily in oil on canvas, Quinn creates psychologically charged scenes in which figures and familiar objects become carriers of memory, tension and withheld narrative.
Her subjects are not conceived as conventional portraits or still lifes, but as emotional presences suspended between performance and solitude, observation and introspection.
Drawing upon the allegorical language of Baroque painting and the shadowed atmosphere of film noir, Quinn reinterprets enduring ideas of beauty, power, devotion and mortality through a contemporary psychological lens.
Taylor Franklin Quinn was born in California in 1988 and lives and works in London.
Before relocating to London, Quinn lived in Marseille and worked as an art director in New York City for over a decade.
