Created entirely on canvas, the new body of work focuses on landscapes. It combines imagined places with elements drawn from the artist’s own experience.
The exhibition examines the shifting nature of memory and the ways familiar places are reconstructed through time and imagination.
Working across monotype and painting, Leiva creates atmospheric compositions in which mountains, trees, bodies and pools of colour emerge through translucent layers, forming landscapes that seem remembered rather than directly observed. The recurring female figure is often absorbed into her surroundings, blurring the distinction between body and landscape and questioning where the self ends and the natural world begins.
