The Museum of Modern Art, Saitama is showing a summer edition of its 'MOMAS Collection' from 6 June to 30 August 2026, with selected works that include Kislings 'Fruits on the Red Table' (1944). The museum’s announcement describes the display as a selection of masterpieces from the collection, pairing internationally recognized modern artists with Japanese contemporaries in a programme spread across the first-floor exhibition rooms.
According to the museum, the exhibition runs in Saitama from 6 June to 30 August, with opening hours of 10:00 to 17:30 and last admission at 17:00. The venue is the museum’s 1st floor exhibition space. Admission is set at 200 yen for general visitors and 100 yen for university and senior high school students, with discounted group rates available. Middle school students and younger, as well as visitors holding disability certificates and one accompanying person, are admitted free of charge. Visitors holding a ticket for a special exhibition, excluding the Gurutto Pass, may also see the 'MOMAS Collection' during the relevant exhibition period.
The museum frames the programme as more than a straightforward permanent display. Since 2008, it has used the title 'MOMAS Collection' in place of the term “permanent exhibition,” and says that since 2002 it has built collection presentations around not only its own holdings but also works on loan and the cooperation of living artists. The current season continues that approach by organising the display as a curated selection rather than a static survey.
The online preview names several works that will appear in the exhibition, including Claude Monet’s 'Haystacks at Giverny, Sunset' (1888-1889), Maurice Denis’s 'Madonna and Child with Arrowroot' (1925), Shiro Kuramata’s 'Miss Blanche' (designed 1988, produced 2007), Miran Fukuda’s 'Danae Welcoming Jupiter, who was transformed into golden rain' (1994), and Tiger Tateishi’s 'Peacok Moon' (1979). The museum also highlights a section described as 'Selection,' which introduces notable holdings from the MOMAS Collection, including Delvaux and others.
In addition to the general collection presentation, the summer programme includes related short talks in the gallery. The museum lists two collection talks: on 18 July at 15:00, curator Ayaka Sato will speak in the exhibition room on Morimura Yasumasa’s 'Flowers and a Kitchen Knife' (1990); and on 9 August at 15:00, curator Mao Kikuchi will discuss Tanizaki Junichiro’s 'Modern Lust Collection' (book design by Komurasaki) from 1919. Attendance for those talks requires MOMAS Collection admission.
The museum’s page also notes two smaller side features within the collection presentation: 'Kobori Enshu and Tanizaki Junichiro' and 'Modern Humor v2.0,' the latter described as a rethinking of artistic humour from a contemporary perspective through the lens of an exhibition held in 1984. The 'MOMAS Collection' is scheduled to remain on view until 30 August 2026 at the Museum of Modern Art, Saitama in Urawa Ward, Saitama.
