Charlie Mackesy’s live event is scheduled for 5 December 2026, from 6 to 7pm, at Michael Croft Theatre, Alleyn’s School, Dulwich. The evening will combine live drawing, conversation and stories.
Through spontaneous sketches, personal anecdotes and honest reflections, Mackesy will share insights into his artistic process, the development of his distinctive visual style and the role drawing continues to play in helping him understand the world around him. He will also reflect on the experiences, relationships and pivotal moments that have shaped his creative journey. The conversation will explore themes that recur throughout his work, including friendship, vulnerability, kindness, hope and human connection.
The event draws inspiration from works featured in the exhibition 'Charlie Mackesy: The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, the Horse...and You', dated 3 November 2026 to 7 February 2027.
The exhibition will show rarely displayed preparatory sketches alongside finished illustrations from Mackesy’s books 'The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse' and 'Always Remember: The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, the Horse and the Storm'. It will also invite visitors to make their own drawings in response to the works on display, highlighting Mackesy’s belief that creativity is for everyone.
