Rather than establishing one fixed image of Salzburg, the exhibition places landscape and the festival city, the city’s baroque setting and personal memory in relation to one another. From these different areas of reference, it develops different perspectives on Salzburg.
The exhibition is curated by Harald Krejci, Marijana Schneider and Tina Teufel. The participating artists follow very different paths and work across a diversity of media. What connects these approaches, according to the exhibition description, is a movement beyond familiar boundaries and an invitation to undertake a process of tracing clues. The exhibition thus brings together varied artistic routes and media while identifying this shared openness to crossing established limits.
Associations with Salzburg’s image as a festival city and with its baroque world heritage are placed alongside an engagement with memory and perception. These associations and subjects challenge habitual ways of looking as well as established perspectives. The exhibition includes works by Alexandra Baumgartner, Thomas Baumann, Jakob Buchner, EVA & ADELE, Heinrich Dunst, Günter Edlinger, Monika Fioreschy, Eva Grubinger, Alfred Haberpointner, Thomas Hörl, Thomas Nowotny, Monika Pichler, Sarah Pichlkostner, Lois Renner, Wilhelm Scheruebl, Elisabeth Schmirl, Margherita Spiluttini, Gerold Tusch and Antoinette Zwirchmayr.
Cultural participation and curiosity are at the centre of the accompanying programme, which includes special tours and workshops.
