‘The Artist Prize’ has unveiled a longlist featuring 200 artists selected from more than 3,700 entries from across the UK. The longlist represents artists rather than entries: where an artist entered more than once, only that artist’s single highest-scoring work goes forward. As a result, the announcement describes the selection as 200 artists rather than 200 entries.
Around 80 curators, artistic directors and artists from arts organisations across the UK spent six weeks viewing 3,800 submissions. The news announcement separately says that every entry was carefully reviewed by 80 UK-based arts professionals from The Artist Prize’s National Panel. Together, these statements describe a review process involving arts professionals from across the UK and a six-week period of viewing submissions.
That panel will choose 20 artists to exhibit together at Firstsite.
The exhibition opens on 30 January 2027. During the show, a £30,000 winner will be chosen.
