‘In Conversation: Teaching and Learning from the Straus Collection’ is scheduled for September 19, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Loeb Art Center Galleries. The event will mark the closing weekend of ‘A Living Legacy: Gifts from Lynn Gross Straus’ and feature Elizabeth Prelinger, John Murphy and Ruby Funfrock.

Prelinger will speak about the impact of student access to great works of art through gifts like those featured in the exhibition. The program is free and open to the public, followed by a reception in the Loeb’s atrium.

‘A Living Legacy: Gifts from Lynn Gross Straus’ is on view from June 20 through September 20, 2026. Many of the nearly fifty works Straus gave are on view together for the first time.

The gifts include prints by European artists active in the early 1900s, including Erich Heckel, Käthe Kollwitz and Edvard Munch, as well as works by later twentieth-century American artists such as Lee Bontecou, Helen Frankenthaler and Frank Stella. The gifts were intended for teaching and research to foster deeper appreciation and understanding of the creative process and artistic imagination.
