'Journey Through Hell' was created soon after the 9/11 terrorist attacks and represents the artist's visceral and haunting response to these heartbreaking events.
Thelma Appel’s 'Prophetic Vision (September 11)' is dated 2000, before the attacks; in a letter, sculptor Mark di Suvero singled out the painting for its “deep, almost frightening sense of prophecy.”
The selection includes Jules Olitski’s 'Elegy - September 11, 2001', made in 2002.
A limited-edition poster depicts the World Trade Center Towers in the arms of a resolute Statue of Liberty.
