The exhibition ‘Mixtape’ will be presented from October 23 to November 22, 2026, with an inauguration scheduled for Friday, October 30, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The exhibition explores the unique relationship between music and emotion in the filmmaker’s work. It comprises five installations and a sound environment that accompanies and envelops visitors throughout the exhibition.
Its spaces highlight several significant moments in Vallée’s career while inviting visitors to examine what inspired him in daily life, influenced his creative work and translated onto the big screen. Mixtapes were an integral part of the artist’s life and creative process: he shared them with friends and collaborators and created them specifically for future projects.
Assembling testimonies from his collaborators and loved ones, and drawing on his love of music, ‘Mixtape’ portrays the man and the filmmaker while exploring the traces he left behind.
The project is supported by the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications’ Call for Projects for the Promotion of Quebec Culture. The exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Festival du cinéma international en Abitibi-Témiscamingue as part of its 45th edition and the 100th anniversary of Rouyn-Noranda.
