Fourth Wall’s first iteration, running from 2026 to 2028, will engage six contemporary artists in producing large-scale wall pieces responsive to the museum’s location. Works commissioned through the project will be sited for six months on a large exterior wall of the museum facing Church Avenue. They will be viewable to thousands of residents and visitors.
The project invites artists either to create new works or provide instructions for works to be executed by local artists, museum personnel or community members. Through this model, Fourth Wall allows notions of authorship and collectivity to become complicated while blurring the boundaries between permanence and ephemerality.
The program includes an artist talk by Herrera, a panel with Herrera and Creigh moderated by Rangel, and an opening reception.
