AJ Masthay is back with another entry in Bottleneck Gallery’s Jerry Garcia Artist Series: ‘Rosebud’ is available for sale on September 9, 2026, at 12 p.m. ET.
Masthay says he tried to capture “some of that joy and magic” in the portrait. The image captures a rare moment of animation in Jerry Garcia’s stance and a bit of his sly smile.
Masthay says he intentionally tried to evoke some of the ‘Palm Sunday’ energy through Garcia’s direct eye contact and lowered glasses.
The release includes a 10-color letterpress, graphite and blue archival pigment editions, a watercolor variant, and an original graphite-and-gouache work.
