The M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art in Kaunas has scheduled three guided tours of Barbara Kasten’s ‘Postabstraction’, beginning on 10 September 2026, one day after the announcement was published. Further tours will follow on 17 and 24 September; all three begin at 17:30.
The dates make the exhibition the subject of a three-part September programme at the museum, with each visit introducing Kasten’s nearly six-decade practice. The museum describes the Lithuanian-born American artist’s work as moving across photography, sculpture and installation, and says the exhibition brings together around 80 works.
Light, colour, structure and space are the exhibition’s stated concerns. Kasten uses mirrors, geometric forms, colour and light to create visual situations in which photography, sculpture and architecture intersect, according to the museum. The tours will address her use of photography not only to record an image but also as a means of making one.
They will also consider light as an independent artistic medium. Reflections and optical illusions are presented as elements that can alter a viewer’s customary perception of space.
Admission to the tours is included with a museum ticket. Places are limited, and advance registration is required.
