A arte Invernizzi will open Michel Verjux’s solo exhibition ‘Tout ou partie’ in Milan on 24 September 2026. Running through 19 November, the exhibition centres on newly made éclairages: light interventions that draw attention to the gallery’s broad central staircase and its pared-back railing, the threshold joining two exhibition rooms, and the rounded intersection of two perpendicular walls.
Verjux has developed the éclairages since 1983, using projections of geometric figures including squares, cones and cylinders. Conceived in relation to the architecture and particular conditions of each location, the works make light the primary element of the artist’s language. For this presentation, the gallery’s existing structural details provide the immediate points of attention.
The exhibition’s title, ‘Tout ou partie’—“All or Part”—accords with the announcement’s emphasis on what vision selects and what reality returns. Verjux has described his artistic work as a process, or device, involving energy, matter and the shaping of what is directly before and around us, intended to allow its recipient an experience. In a 2001 statement, he characterised such illumination as bringing what is already present insistently to a visitor’s attention.
The éclairages will be accompanied by works formed from stainless-steel sheets folded and cut by semicircular slits. Through the contrast of solid and void, these works emphasise space as a necessary condition of their existence.
‘Tout ou partie’ continues a relationship between Verjux and A arte Invernizzi that began with their first collaboration in 2001. A bilingual volume accompanying the exhibition will include an essay by Francesco Tedeschi, a text by Verjux, reproductions of the exhibited works and an updated biographical and bibliographical section.
