Doyle will hold its live ‘Post-War & Contemporary Fine Art / Latin American Art’ auction in New York on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 11am. Exhibition hours are scheduled for Saturday, September 26; Sunday, September 27; and Monday, September 28, from noon to 5pm.
The auction is described as presenting affordable paintings, prints and sculpture spanning the post-war years to the present day, by established and emerging artists. A selection of auction highlights names Antonio Asis, Paul Jenkins, Gloria Vanderbilt, Takashi Murakami, Marisol Escobar, Sénèque Obin, Roberto Fabelo, Ernest Crichlow, Gustavo Montoya, Henri Hecht Maik, Hunt Slonem and Charles White.
Latin American art forms a featured section of the September 30 auction. This portion will present paintings, drawings, sculpture and prints by artists of the 20th and 21st centuries representing Central and South America and the Caribbean. Among the artists named are Angel Botello, Marisol Escobar, Edgar Negret, Diego Rivera, Ricardo Martínez de Hoyos, Francisco Zúñiga, Sénèque Obin, Manuel Mendive, Roberto Fabelo, Juan Roberto Diago and Antonio Gattorno.
The Latin American Art section features a group of paintings and sculpture by Manuel Mendive, identified as Cuban and born in 1944. The sale description states that his work draws on Afro-Cuban spirituality, mythology and Yoruba traditions. His dreamlike compositions often feature human, animal and spiritual figures rendered in a distinctive, richly symbolic style.
The sale description also discusses Marisol, the Venezuelan-American artist and sculptor who lived from 1930 to 2016. It states that she connected Pop to Pre-Colombian art and Surrealism, and received early public acclaim for mixed-media sculptures in the 1960s. Her 1974 ‘King of Hearts’ is described as “a dreamy silhouette, both bright and mysterious.”
The Marisol Escobar highlight is listed as property from the Alvia G. Golden Living Trust.
Other estimates among the broader auction highlights include $4,000–$6,000 for a work by Paul Jenkins from the Collection of Joseph M. Murphy, and $2,000–$4,000 for a work by Gloria Vanderbilt from the Beatrice Dabney Adams Collection. Works by Ernest Crichlow and Charles White, each listed as from the Collection of the Artist Ernest Crichlow, carry estimates of $3,000–$5,000 and $2,000–$4,000, respectively.
Angelo Madrigale will lead an informal tour of the exhibition on Monday, September 28, at 1pm. The tour is free and open to the public.
