The feature film ‘Wer weiß schon, was ein Leben ist?’ opened in cinemas on 3 September 2026. Running for 95 minutes, the German production is directed by Annelie Boroș and Vera Brückner.
Actor Katharina Stark follows the traces of Paula Modersohn-Becker between Worpswede and Paris, approaching the artist’s life, work and ideas. The film is presented as a poetic encounter between two women separated by more than a century, engaging questions of freedom, identity and self-determination.
Screenings began in cities including Regensburg, Heidelberg, Magdeburg, Munich, Bremen, Hannover, Berlin, Hamburg, Kiel and Erfurt. Further September dates are scheduled in locations including Leipzig, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Oldenburg, Bonn, Cologne, Stuttgart, Wiesbaden and Saarbrücken.
In Worpswede, ‘Impuls Paula’, an exhibition marking the 150th birthday of Paula Modersohn-Becker, remains on view through 1 November 2026.
