‘The Scandinavian Home: Landscape and Lore’ remains on view in the Fifth Third Gallery at the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati through 20 September 2026.
Organized by The Frick Pittsburgh, the exhibition examines notions of home and homeland in the art of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden during the second half of the 19th century. It brings together landscapes, portraits, furniture and decorative arts from public institutions and private collectors.
The presentation includes tapestries by Gerhard Munthe, ceramics by Alfred William Finch, silver by Henrik Møller, and landscape paintings by Hilma af Klint, Akseli Gallen-Kallela and Gustaf Fjaestad. Works on view include Munthe’s 1906 wool-and-linen tapestry ‘The Suitors’; Møller’s 1906 silver ‘Tureen with the Legend of Ragnar Lodbrok’; and Lars Kinsarvik’s painted-pine ‘Armchair’ (1900).
An educator tour with Laura Kilian Jaster, focused on ‘The Scandinavian Home’, is scheduled for 16 September.
