A roundtable with the curator and award recipients will conclude the exhibition ‘Plečnikove nagrade 2026: Artefakti’ at Plečnik House in Ljubljana on Thursday, 24 September. The discussion is scheduled to begin at 6pm and will examine the shifts that this year’s winning projects are bringing to Slovenian architecture.
According to the organisers, the conversation will consider what those changes may mean for the future of architectural practice, approaches to heritage, public space and the broader culture of living. The event is presented as an opportunity to discuss the awarded works directly with the exhibition’s curator and the architects and designers recognised by the Plečnik awards.
The exhibition is on view from 26 May through 27 September 2026 at Plečnik House. It is the fourth consecutive year that the house has hosted a presentation of Plečnik Award recipients, which are described by the institution as Slovenia’s central national honours for outstanding work in architecture, urbanism, landscape architecture and interior design.
The awards recognise completed projects in the Republic of Slovenia, as well as work in Slovenian communities outside the country, when those projects contribute to the enrichment of spatial culture. Plečnik House is part of the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, the public institution established in 2009 that brings together several of the city’s museums and galleries. The house in Ljubljana’s Trnovo district is preserved as the home and studio of architect Jože Plečnik, who lived and worked there from 1921 until his death in 1957. It was declared a monument of national importance in 2009.
The museum describes Plečnik, who was born in Ljubljana in 1872, as a major figure in the shaping of the city’s architectural identity. Ideas associated with what is now called “Plečnik’s Ljubljana” emerged in part from the Trnovo house, which is maintained as a museum alongside its programme of temporary exhibitions and public events.
The 24 September roundtable will take place at Plečnik House, Karunova 4–6, Ljubljana, at 6pm. The exhibition remains listed as open until 27 September.
