The Fukuoka Art Museum has opened ‘Hiroshi Yoshida: A Traveler of Poetry and Painting,’ an exhibition marking the 150th anniversary of the artist’s birth. The presentation began on 1 September in Modern and Contemporary Art Room A on the museum’s second floor and is scheduled to continue through 20 December.
The exhibition focuses on Hiroshi Yoshida’s travels and the landscapes that informed his work. According to the museum’s announcement, Yoshida sought subjects not only in Japan but also across Europe and America, Africa, and Asia. His paintings are presented as a poetic body of work shaped by this wide-ranging search for material and place.
