teamLab Borderless: MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM at Azabudai Hills in Tokyo is continuing its run with a newly highlighted special exhibition and the reopening of one of its installation spaces. According to the museum’s official material, the permanent exhibition remains on view while a special presentation titled 'On the Asymmetry of the Universe' is running from 8 July to 8 October 2026.
The museum describes teamLab Borderless as a “world of artworks without boundaries,” in which works move out of rooms, relate to one another and form a continuous environment. The project is presented as an immersive, mapless museum created by the art collective teamLab, with visitors encouraged to wander, explore and discover the changing installations by moving through the space themselves.
The new special exhibition centers on two newly introduced series: 'Asymmetric Existence' and 'Chromatic Existence'. On the museum’s website, 'Asymmetric Existence' is described as a single sculpture formed by two light sculptures, one appearing only in physical space and not in the mirror, the other appearing only inside the mirror and not in real space. 'Chromatic Existence' is presented as a spatial work created when colors flowing in the space generate order, resulting in a sculpture with no material surface boundary.
The museum also says the Light Sculpture - Flow artwork space has reopened in connection with the special exhibition. 'Light Sculpture - Flow' is described as a work in which a continuous stream of light rays forms an order within the space, creating a spatial existence without a material surface boundary. The site frames the work as part of teamLab’s ongoing interest in art that is experienced through movement and changing perception rather than through fixed viewing positions.
Alongside the new exhibition, the Borderless World section continues to feature a large group of interconnected works that the museum says influence and intermingle with one another. The website lists works and environments including 'Bubble Universe / Microcosmoses', 'Future Park', and 'EN TEA HOUSE', as well as a range of recurring or seasonal installations such as 'Memory of Topography' and 'Proliferating Immense Life - A Whole Year per Year'.
The official page also revisits teamLab’s long-running concept for the project, emphasizing a mode of art that is continuous with the body and changes through the presence of people. In the entrance area, the museum notes a work titled 'People Don’t See the World as through a Camera', which uses a designated viewing position to reveal lettering through a camera rather than with the naked eye. The exhibition remains listed as a permanent presentation at Azabudai Hills, Tokyo, with the special exhibition running through 8 October 2026.
