The Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts in Tokyo will close its second-floor exhibition rooms from September 1 through September 3 for an exhibition changeover, according to a visitor notice issued by the museum.
The closure will run for three days, from Tuesday, September 1, through Thursday, September 3. The notice specifically concerns the second-floor exhibition rooms and advises visitors to take note of the temporary closure.
The museum’s first-floor museum shop and Café Keyaki will continue operating on days when the museum itself is open, according to the announcement. The notice does not provide further information about access to other areas during the display change.
Beginning Friday, September 4, the museum will present the special exhibition ‘Miró and Tàpies — The Vortex of Postwar Spain, 1945–1980’. The title names Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies and places the exhibition’s focus on postwar Spain between 1945 and 1980.
No closing date, checklist, curatorial statement or additional programme details were included in the announcement. The museum’s notice establishes the September 4 opening date but does not specify how long the exhibition will remain on view.
