Félix Blume’s sound installation ‘Enjambre’ will be presented as part of a new exhibition cycle at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín (MAMM), where 250 small loudspeakers suspended from the ceiling will reproduce the individual sounds of bees in flight. The work will open to the public in Medellín on September 10, 2026, alongside three other exhibitions organized by the museum.
In ‘Enjambre’, the speakers distribute separate recordings of bees throughout the gallery. From the entrance, the sounds are perceived as a homogeneous murmur—a vibrating mass that suggests the collective force of a swarm. Moving among the suspended speakers changes the listener’s experience, bringing forward the distinct voice of each bee, including the irregularity of its flight, its breathing and its individual presence.
The installation is curated by Jorge Barco. Its focus on the relationship between a collective sound field and its discrete components places the work within the museum’s broader opening program, which describes the four exhibitions as exploring different ways of relating to matter, territory, memory and sound. The other presentations are ‘Los años de la piedra’ by Pedro Gómez-Egaña, ‘La boca por donde el agua engendra el agua’ by Astrid González, and ‘El movimiento de un registro fluvial’ by Gala Porras-Kim.
The opening will take place across the MAMM’s Fundiciones rooms A, B, C and D, LAB 3 and the museum’s theater. The museum lists free admission for the event. On Thursday, September 10, the galleries will open at 11 a.m.; guided visits to ‘Enjambre’ and ‘Los años de la piedra’ are scheduled for 3 p.m., followed at 4:30 p.m. by tours of González’s and Porras-Kim’s exhibitions. A public opening conversation will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The public program continues on Friday, September 11, with a 10 a.m. talk by Gala Porras-Kim focused on ‘El movimiento de un registro fluvial’. The museum’s announcement identifies September 10 and 11 as the two days of inauguration programming, but the supplied schedule does not specify a closing date for the exhibitions themselves.
The opening cycle also includes institutional support from the Fond for Lyd og Bilde, Billedkunstnernes Vederlagsfond, Oslo National Academy of the Arts / Kunstakademiet, the Office for Contemporary Art Norway, Steirischer Herbst, Zilberman Gallery and the Korea Artist Prize Promotion Fund. MAMM is located at Ciudad Del Río, Carrera 44 N° 19A-100, in Medellín.
