Paola Estrella’s ‘The Cenote Ring’ will be presented at the Stables Gallery in Twickenham from 2 October to 29 November 2026, according to an announcement from Orleans House Gallery. The exhibition will examine the underground water systems of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula through a combination of painting, moving image, installation and immersive sound.
The project connects the cenotes and subterranean waterways of the Yucatán to the ancient asteroid impact associated with the formation of the region’s distinctive geological landscape. Its stated concerns extend from the origins of those water systems to contemporary questions surrounding ecology, extraction and belief.
Orleans House Gallery’s announcement describes the exhibition as a layered environment in which image, sound and space interact. ‘The Cenote Ring’ is also being presented for the first time as a complete work, although the available announcement does not provide further details about the individual works or the installation’s production history.
The exhibition forms part of Orleans House Gallery’s Emerging Artists Programme for 2026–27. Estrella is one of three artists named for the programme, alongside Malgorzata Lisiecka and Mujtaba Asif. Across three exhibitions in the Stables Gallery, the programme will encompass practices including painting, sculpture, installation, performance, moving image, sound, poetry and text.
The Stables Gallery is part of the Orleans House Gallery complex on Orleans Road in Twickenham, southwest London. The gallery’s programme also includes ‘What Moves You?’, an interactive exhibition running from 24 July to 27 September 2026. That exhibition brings together artists and researchers connected to the borough and considers home, belonging and community through participatory work. A separate presentation, ‘Ronald Moody: Sculpting Life’, is scheduled to open at Orleans House Gallery on 2 October.
‘The Cenote Ring’ will be free to visit at the Stables Gallery, Orleans House Gallery, Orleans Road, Twickenham, TW1 3BL. The gallery is listed as open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm, with admission free of charge. The exhibition runs through 29 November 2026.
