JD Malat Gallery will present a two-artist booth devoted to Santiago Parra and Masayoshi Nojo at Tokyo Gendai 2026, held from 11 to 13 September at PACIFICO Yokohama in Japan. The London- and Dubai-based gallery will occupy Booth H18 at the fair, which it describes as Tokyo Gendai’s fourth edition.

The presentation is framed by the gallery as a dialogue between contrasting approaches to abstraction. According to its exhibition text, Parra’s canvases are visceral, impulsive and monochromatic, using bold gestural marks and layers of black pigment to convey psychological intensity. Nojo’s compositions are described as more restrained, with an emphasis on silence, balance and sensitivity to material.

The pairing also places Nojo’s practice in relation to Japanese art history. The gallery identifies him as a contemporary student of the Rinpa school of art, while its artist information lists him as born in Japan in 1989. The same information identifies Parra as born in Colombia in 1986. No further biographical details about either artist are provided in the announcement.

One work specifically identified for the booth is Parra’s ‘Untitled’, dated 2026. The acrylic-on-canvas painting measures 66 1/2 by 45 5/8 inches, or 169 by 116 centimetres. The gallery’s announcement does not provide titles, dates or dimensions for the works by Nojo included in the presentation.

JD Malat Gallery was established in 2018 and maintains locations in Mayfair, London, and Downtown Dubai, according to the gallery. The gallery says it supports established and emerging artists, with a focus on underrepresented voices, and represents 20 international artists working across media including painting and sculpture. Its listed artists include both Parra and Nojo.

Tokyo Gendai will take place at PACIFICO Yokohama, 1-1-1 Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama 220-0012. Public hours are Friday, 11 September, from noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 12 September, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 13 September, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
