Lincoln Glenn will open ‘Sherron Francis: Beyond the Stain’ on September 10 at its Chelsea location in New York, bringing together nine paintings by the Color Field and Lyrical Abstraction painter. The exhibition will remain on view through October 24 and focuses on works made between 1977 and 1983.
According to the gallery, the paintings represent a pivotal period in Francis’ career. During these years, she expanded the language of stain painting through increasingly complex surfaces, textures and material experimentation.
