The Museum of Western Art in Kerrville, Texas, opens 'The Enchanted West of Adrienne Stein' on Saturday, 22 August 2026, with an opening reception from 5.30 to 8.30 p.m. The museum's exhibitions listing gives the run as 22 August to 7 November 2026 in the Main Gallery, shown alongside works from the permanent collection. The museum had closed for the week beforehand to install the show, making the opening a reopening; the museum's August 18 newsletter said staff and volunteers had logged more than 100 hours over two days on the installation, with more work still to do.
A live recorded podcast and presentation by the artist follows on Sunday, 23 August, from 2 to 3.30 p.m. in the Main Gallery, with a book signing afterwards. A limited-edition printed catalogue is available through the museum's website at $25 plus tax.
Stein is an American painter who lives and works in Pennsylvania and Colorado. She holds an MFA from Boston University and a BFA from Laguna College of Art and Design, and has studied in the United States, France and Italy. The museum describes her paintings as celebrating the natural world in bold, vibrant colour, blending observed nature with memory, imagination, art history, folklore and archetype, and cites her garden at the Pennsylvania home she shares with her husband, the artist Quang Ho, and their son as a source.
The show takes over from 'Cliff Cavin: Journeys of a Lifetime', which ran in the Egloff Gallery from 13 June to 15 August 2026. Two further exhibitions are already scheduled: 'Two Visions of the West', pairing the sculptor Eric Slocombe and the painter Bill Kalwick, from 14 November 2026 to 9 January 2027, and 'A West of Her Own: American Women Artists', from 16 January to 17 April 2027.
The museum sits at 1550 Bandera Highway in the Texas Hill Country and opens Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and seniors, $5 for students and children aged 9 to 17, and free for members and children of 8 and under. Its stated mission is the collection, preservation and promotion of Western heritage together with education and cultural enrichment for a diverse audience.
Elsewhere in the museum's autumn programme are three-day adult workshops with Phil Bob Borman from 24 to 26 September and Jason Scull from 11 to 13 October, and felting workshops with Andrea Rummel on 16 October, 20 to 21 November and 11 December. Outdoors, 'Stars Stripes and States' runs from 11 April to 12 September 2026 and presents all 50 state flags together with the 27 flags flown under the US banner since 1776, as part of the America 250 semiquincentennial programme. None of these is part of the Stein exhibition.
