Toyota Municipal Museum of Art will hold the next session of its gallery-talk programme 'Miru x Kangaeru x Tsutaeru' on 16 August at 1 pm, inviting visitors to discuss works with gallery-guide volunteers inside the exhibition space. The museum says the session will concentrate on the room devoted to Akiko Horio in the exhibition 'One Room, One Artist'.
The programme is part of a series of guided viewing events scheduled for 11 August, 16 August, 30 August, 6 September and 19 September, each lasting about 40 minutes. According to the museum, the talks are designed to encourage conversation among visitors and to open up new ways of looking at art through dialogue rather than silent viewing.
No specialist knowledge is required, and participation is free of advance reservation, though admission tickets are needed on the day. The museum asks participants to gather in the exhibition room where the work is displayed before the start time, and to check with staff if the room is unclear.
For the 16 August session, the museum will use Horio’s exhibition room as a point of departure for looking closely at the work and at the unusual materials she employs. The notice highlights the transformation of everyday items such as confectionery boxes into artworks, framing the talk as an opportunity to approach what the museum describes as the ‘mystery’ of art.
The event is linked to 'One Room, One Artist: Kenji Yanobe, Akiko Horio, Yoichi Umetsu, Kazuo Okazaki', on view from 18 July to 23 September 2026.
