John Linnell

John Linnell was an English engraver, portrait painter, and landscape painter. He was known as a naturalist and had a rivalry with John Constable. Linnell appreciated Northern European Renaissance art, especially the works of Albrecht Dürer. He also connected with artists such as Edward Thomas Daniell, William Blake, and Samuel Palmer.
