Giuseppe Perovani

Republic of Venice, 1765–1835

Italian Neoclassical painter (c.1765-1835) who trained in Rome and worked extensively in North America, living in Philadelphia, New York, and Havana before settling in Mexico City, where he taught at the Academia de Bellas Artes. He is known for a 1796 portrait of George Washington, a variation of Gilbert Stuart's Lansdowne portrait.
