Eric Carle

1929–2021

Eric Carle was an American author, designer, and illustrator of children's books. He illustrated over 70 books, many of which he also wrote, with his most famous work being "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." This book, published in 1969, has been translated into over 66 languages and sold more than 50 million copies worldwide. Carle's career gained momentum following his collaboration on "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"
