Dana Chandler

African American painter and activist (1941-2025), also known as Akin Duro, who championed Black Power aesthetics and challenged institutional racism through art. As a professor at Simmons University, he founded the African American Master Artists-in-Residence Program at Northeastern University in 1974, using art as a tool for social justice.
