Alexandre Cabanel

Alexandre Cabanel was a French painter known for his works in historical, classical, and religious subjects, executed in the academic style. He was also recognized as a portrait painter. Cabanel was the preferred painter of Napoleon III and was considered one of the three most successful artists of the Second Empire, alongside Gérôme and Meissonier.
