Kunstsilo is promoting a daily programme of guided tours that ranges across its collection, current exhibitions and the museum building’s transformation from silo to art institution. In a newsletter sent on 31 July, the Kristiansand museum said visitors can choose among several tours every day, with options that introduce the Tangen Collection, focus on specific exhibitions, or explore the architecture and conversion of the building itself.
The museum’s tour page says the format is designed to bring visitors closer to the art, offering context and entry points for understanding the works in new ways. Kunstsilo states that it provides open tours for the public as well as private tours by booking, and that tour participants receive headphones so they can hear the guide clearly. According to the museum, a guided tour usually lasts about 40 to 45 minutes, although exceptions can occur.
Among the daily options is 'Highlights from the Tangen Collection', described as an introduction to all the exhibitions in the building with a focus on selected works from the collection. The museum says this tour is offered in English every day at 12:30 pm from 22 June to 30 August, and in German every day at 2 pm over the same period. The newsletter also says the English and German tours are intended as accessible introductions for visitors who want a broad overview of the museum’s programming.
Other tours move more specifically into thematic readings of the collection. 'Mellom drømmer og virkelighet' focuses on how dreams, emotions and fantasy shaped modernist art, while 'Bilder for en ny verden' looks at artists seeking new expressions in a rapidly changing world marked by urban life, technology and new ideas. 'Opprør og optimisme' examines how artists challenged established boundaries through unconventional materials, experimental methods and large formats, and asks what art can be and what role it can play in society. Kunstsilo’s tour page also lists 'Fra kornsilo til Kunstsilo', which traces the building’s transformation and includes selected works and exhibitions along the way.
The museum’s 31 July newsletter framed the offer as 'five ways to experience Kunstsilo', and linked the tours to the institution’s collection and architecture. The same mailing also pointed readers to an upcoming senior workshop and a separate guided tour connected to Skeive Sørlandsdager, but those events are distinct from the daily tour programme. The museum’s website notes that private tours can be booked for groups, companies, associations or social occasions, and that they may be arranged with additional elements such as aperitifs or dinners.
Kunstsilo says private tours must be booked 14 days in advance. Within the museum’s opening hours, a private tour costs NOK 4,200 for up to 15 people and includes admission, while a tour for 16 to 30 people costs NOK 8,400 and also includes entrance. The museum says daily tours include access to the whole Kunstsilo for the day, and that members receive a discount and choose a membership ticket. The guided-tour programme is presented as part of Kunstsilo’s broader visitor offer at Sjølystveien 8 in Kristiansand.
