Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art in Kobe will present 'SOUND FOREST ミステリアスな森を作ろう!パーカッション・ワークショップライブ' on August 11, a free, reservation-based music event for children and parents. The museum says the session runs from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, with doors opening at 1:30pm, in Gallery Building, first floor, Atelier 1.

The event is part of the museum’s “museum mystery” related programming and is described on the museum website as a summer holiday activity designed to let families experience the pleasures of sound and the appeal of music. The museum says the afternoon combines a live performance with a participatory program, allowing children and accompanying adults to explore rhythm, musical expression and the creative possibilities of percussion.

Percussionist Ryō Watanabe will lead the program. According to the museum’s announcement, the first half will feature a live performance by Watanabe, while the second half will invite children to play along using everyday objects and various percussion instruments. The museum frames the workshop as a chance to encounter the depth of music through both listening and participation.

Registration is required in advance. The application period opened on July 11 at 4:00pm and closes on August 8 at 3:00pm, via the prefectural online application system linked by the museum. The museum notes that the event is limited to 30 groups, accepts preschool-age children, and requires a parent or guardian to accompany participating children. Applications for children alone are not accepted.

The museum’s notice also states that the event is free of charge. If the program must be cancelled because of weather conditions or other factors, the museum says it will announce the change on its website. For inquiries, the museum directs visitors to the Art Fusion Executive Committee at Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, with a telephone contact number listed in the announcement.

Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, located in Kobe’s HAT Kobe district, regularly posts exhibition and event updates on its website. This August 11 workshop adds a family-oriented, hands-on element to its seasonal programming, with a format that moves from performance to collaborative playing in a single afternoon.
