The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe will open its doors for ‘First Friday’ on August 7, offering free admission from 5 to 7 p.m. MT alongside extended hours and an ‘Art on Tap’ setup on the museum patio. The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. and is listed as free for everyone during that window; the museum also says New Mexico residents receive free admission all day.
According to the museum’s event listing, ‘Art on Tap’ will feature Santa Fe Brewing selling cold beverages, Sunday at Grams manning the grill, and Sabo Botanical Shop on the patio with a selection of pots and plants. The evening is framed as a casual community gathering that combines museum access with food, drink and outdoor activity. The museum’s public calendar also notes live music and outdoor activities as part of the First Friday offering.
‘First Friday’ is part of a recurring monthly program at the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. The museum’s event page says the initiative brings extended hours on the first Friday of every month, with free admission for New Mexico residents all day and free access for all visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. The August edition extends that format with seasonal patio programming under the museum’s ‘Art on Tap’ banner.
The museum’s calendar for the same week places the First Friday event within a broader run of public programs. On August 7, the museum is also promoting ‘O’Keeffe Art & Leadership Annual Art Show Opening Night’ at the Santa Fe Community College Visual Arts Gallery, with free admission and a 5 to 7 p.m. opening reception. That exhibition is offered in partnership with the SFCC Department of Fine Arts and is open until September 2, 2026, with gallery hours Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The museum’s community programming continues the following weekend with ‘Family Day: The More You Grow!’ on August 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. MT. That event features we.grow.eco in a hands-on papermaking activity, plus story time in the galleries with Santa Fe Public Library and creative activities with the Santa Fe Children’s Museum. The museum says Family Day is a free event offered in partnership with the Santa Fe Children’s Museum and the Santa Fe Public Library.
Elsewhere in its education schedule, the museum is also listing a set of classes for late July and early August, including ‘In-Person Class: Santa Fe Urban Sketching’ on August 1 at the museum’s Creativity Studio and ‘Online Class: Watercolor Texture | Rustic Doors & Adobe Walls of Santa Fe’ on August 3 via Zoom. Both classes are taught by Sudeshna Sengupta and are described by the museum as drawing on Georgia O’Keeffe’s observations of northern New Mexico and the visual textures associated with Santa Fe and adobe architecture.
For ‘First Friday,’ the museum lists the address as 217 Johnson Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501, with the event scheduled for Friday, August 7, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. MT.
