Piedmont Arts will host a free public art talk with student artist Lily Ebrahimi from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 23. Organized by the Piedmont Arts Guild, the presentation will accompany Ebrahimi’s work on view in the Foster Gallery through Aug. 14.

Ebrahimi is described by Piedmont Arts as a versatile artist with a background in both dance and visual arts. She is a senior at Community High School in Roanoke, Virginia, and has studied at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. The museum’s event listing also notes her former dance experience with the Southwest Virginia Ballet and Star City School of Dance.

The talk is presented in connection with 'Works by Lily Ebrahimi', a Foster Gallery exhibition running July 1-Aug. 14. According to the museum, the gallery features the student artist’s work and highlights Ebrahimi as the winner of the Piedmont Arts Guild Special Student Award in 'Expressions 2025'. The exhibition page also says her painting 'The Last of the Cherry Tomatoes' won a silver medal in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in 2026.

Piedmont Arts’ exhibition materials place Ebrahimi’s work within a larger lineup of current shows centered on 'Expressions 2026: America 250', the annual open-entry exhibition presented by Piedmont Arts and Lynwood Artists. The museum says this year’s 'Expressions' invited artists to respond to the theme 'America 250' in honor of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, framing the exhibition as a platform for contemporary creative expression.

The museum’s website notes that Ebrahimi’s work has been exhibited at venues across Virginia, including Left of the Center, Piedmont Arts, the Pulaski Center for the Arts, the Bath County Arts Association Exhibit, and the Clifton Forge Masonic Theater. The site also says she was raised in a family of prolific artists and has developed an interest in color, texture, form and design.

Admission to the July 23 talk is free, and the event is open to the public. RSVP is requested by Wednesday, July 22. Piedmont Arts lists its address as 215 Starling Avenue in Martinsville, Virginia, and says the museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
