Tacoma Art Museum’s newest exhibition, ‘Drawing Room,’ invites visitors to take a seat and create a drawing of their own.
Exploring drawing as both action and object, ‘Drawing Room’ transforms the gallery into a hands-on drawing studio and invites visitors to engage actively through making. The exhibition frames that engagement through drawing’s process, function, and meaning, treating making as the way visitors participate.
‘Drawing Room’ highlights more than eighty works from Tacoma Art Museum’s collection, with the presentation spanning the late nineteenth century through 2017. The exhibition includes work by Morris Graves, Akio Takamori, and Lynda Barry, among others.
Among the identified works is Leo Kenney’s ‘Heavenly Lens,’ made in 1970 with oil pastel on board.
