Lisa Brice Exhibition Brings Together Five Years of Paintings

Lisa Brice Exhibition Brings Together Five Years of Paintings Image: Serpentine Galleries, London

The exhibition brings together paintings from the past five years and new works responding to Serpentine’s location and architecture.

Its presentation is organised around four settings—the park, studio, bar and fight arena.

The exhibition examines female agency, self-defence, resistance and solidarity.

Lisa Brice, born in 1968 in Cape Town, South Africa, is a London-based painter whose work challenges traditional representations of women in art history.

For over a decade, Brice spent time between the UK and Trinidad following residencies at Gasworks, London, in 1998 and at CCA7, Trinidad, in 1999–2000; she now lives and works in London.
