The Wolfsonian–FIU will take part in Miami Beach’s monthly Culture Crawl on Thursday, July 16, with a free evening event that pairs a guided tour of the museum’s 'Foot Notes: Shoes, Symbolism, and Society' with a hands-on sneaker customization station. Titled 'Miami Beach Culture Crawl | Sneaker Charm Bar,' the program runs from 6 to 9 pm at The Wolfsonian–FIU, 1001 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach.
According to the museum, The Wolfsonian is partnering with the City of Miami Beach and neighboring institutions for the Culture Crawl series, which offers free monthly evenings of art, performances, screenings, and tours. Visitors can use complimentary trolley service that stops near participating locations, or travel by bike or on foot, to move among the venues during the 6 to 9 pm window. The July edition adds a specific tie-in to 'Foot Notes,' a museum exhibition focused on the history and meaning of footwear in the first half of the 20th century.
The event begins with a free guided tour of 'Foot Notes' at 6:30 pm. Afterward, participants are invited to a BYOS, or Bring Your Own Sneakers, Charm Bar, where they can customize their own sneakers with charms, beads, and other decorative elements. The museum describes the activity as part of the evening’s programming rather than a separate exhibition, extending the themes of design, personal style, and everyday objects that run through 'Foot Notes.'
'Foot Notes: Shoes, Symbolism, and Society' opened on July 2, 2026, and is scheduled to remain on view through February 28, 2027. Installed on the 7th Floor at The Wolfsonian–FIU, the exhibition examines how shoes carry meaning as markers of identity and reflections of cultural priorities. The museum says the show draws from its collection to uncover stories where design and fabrication intersect with politics, identity, and everyday life.
The exhibition also places rare shoe examples in dialogue with broader histories of merchandising, innovation, propaganda, and recreation. Among the designers named on the exhibition page are Salvatore Ferragamo and Beth Levine. The installation is curated by Danielle Charlap and is organized by The Wolfsonian–FIU, with support from the Cowles Charitable Trust and Leonard and Ruth Perfido.
The Culture Crawl event is listed as free, with registration available through The Wolfsonian’s event page. The museum’s website also notes that the July program is part of a wider City of Miami Beach collaboration linking cultural institutions through evening programming and transit access.
Separately, The Wolfsonian’s current online listings also note other offerings on its schedule, including the ongoing exhibitions 'Modern Design Across Borders' and 'La Superba: Genoa and The Wolfsoniana,' both on view through July 19 at The Wolfsonian–FIU @ 1001 Washington Avenue.
