Palace of Versailles Acquires Two Crenellated Sèvres Porcelain Buckets at Artcurial Auction

The Château de Versailles has acquired two exceptional glass coolers, the only two known buckets of their form, made for Louis XVI’s mythological service and added to the château’s collections.

After cleaning, losses are being filled with white putty; the colors will then be retouched, followed by the final varnish.

Six works by French artist François Morellet are currently on display in various spaces throughout the Palace of Versailles, in a presentation described by the palace as a tribute to the artist.
