Olufemi Olaiya’s exhibition is on view until 8 November. The Portsmouth-based Nigerian photographer and visual artist explores heritage and belonging through the story of his family’s historic house in Lagos.
The project connects Portsmouth and Lagos through photography, architecture, migration and memory.
A Photo Talk featuring Olufemi Olaiya is scheduled at Aspex Portsmouth on Thursday 22 October from 6pm to 8pm. At the event, he will discuss his practice, influences and approach to photography.
The event describes Olaiya as a self-taught visual artist specialising in portrait, fashion and architectural photography, whose practice explores storytelling, historical context and connections between people and generations.
