Museo Picasso Málaga will host a study day related to the temporary exhibition ‘Munch–Picasso’ on 30 October 2026. The programme runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum and includes a welcome by Miguel López-Remiro, its artistic director. The event is free, with information and registration available at educacion@mpicassom.org.
The event will bring together Paloma Alarcó, curator of the exhibition; Trine Otte Bak Nielsen, senior curator at Oslo’s Munchmuseet; and University of Málaga professors María Jesús Martínez Silvente and Eugenio Carmona. It is intended for art and cultural professionals, students and the general public, and will offer simultaneous Spanish-English translation.
The programme addresses the presence of women in Munch’s and Picasso’s lives and work, Munch’s view of Picasso, the relationship between the two artists, and the representation of the body in their respective works. The day concludes with a roundtable and a question period involving the participants.
Running from 30 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, ‘Munch–Picasso’ presents Edvard Munch and Pablo Picasso in dialogue for the first time through more than 100 paintings, drawings and prints. The exhibition explores affinities across their respective careers and how both artists transformed artistic language by making emotional experience a principal force of creation.
Rather than asserting a direct influence, it examines shared subjects and concerns including love and desire, illness, death, loneliness and existential anguish.
