Moriah Evans’s ‘}[…/+*^%<>€£¥$&@!!!! ^^^]{’ is identified by the Walker as a Walker Commission, with dates listed for October 9–10, 2026. Evans is identified as both a conceptual artist and choreographer.
In the new Walker dance commission, Evans questions how bodies serve as sites of political and existential conundrums. The work unfolds within the Walker’s winding interior before spilling into a substantially reimagined McGuire Theater.
The commission makes the institution part of an inquiry into the politics of labor. It combines physical entanglements and choreography with a deliberately unsayable title that keeps attention on the present moment.
For the presentation, three Twin Cities dancers—Benny Olk, jess pretty, and Carlo Antonio Villanueva—join performers Cyril Baldy, Malcolm-x Betts, Chloë Engel, Kris Lee, João dos Santos Martins, Sarah Beth Percival, and Varinia Canto Vila.
The production team includes scenography by Doris Dziersk, lighting by Madeline Best, costumes by Strauss Bourque-LaFrance, technical direction by Dyer Rhoads, studio direction by Margaret Knowles, and music by David Watson.
