The exhibition runs from 28 May to 18 October 2026 at The National Museum, where it is presented on Floor 1.

Through her depictions of people from commerce, science and culture, as well as activists from the women’s-rights movement in Kristiania, now Oslo, Nørregaard became the most renowned portrait painter of her day. Her portrait subjects included Edvard Munch, Katti Anker Møller and Elisabeth Fearnley, among the many people whose portraits she painted.

Nørregaard was also known as the ‘fashion painter’ of Norwegian art, a reputation linked to her close attention to costume, fashion and accessories. She excelled in rendering velvet, silk and lace, materials that formed part of her particular attention to the details of dress and adornment.

Guided tours of the exhibition are scheduled in October, with listed sessions on 1, 4, 6, 8, 13 and 15 October, including afternoon and evening sessions on some dates.
