On September 27, the Portland Art Museum will host an opening conversation for ‘The Stars We Do Not See: Australian Indigenous Art.’ The event is scheduled for 2–3pm at the Portland Art Museum’s Kridel Grand Ballroom.
The discussion will be moderated by Kathleen Ash-Milby, Curator of Native American Art at the Portland Art Museum, and will feature Dr. Jessica Clark, Senior Curator of First Nations Art at the National Gallery of Victoria, alongside artist and documentary photographer Ricky Maynard. Clark is a Trawlwoolway woman and currently holds the position of Senior Curator of First Nations Art at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Maynard, whose work is featured in ‘The Stars We Do Not See,’ is a Tasmanian documentary photographer, activist and social commentator. He is celebrated internationally for documentary series that include groundbreaking portraits of Wik elders, the traditional custodians of Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland.
